Mushrooms produce fruiting bodies in order to spread their spores of which they generate staggering quantities. In Reishi’s case each fruiting body will produce a roughly equivalent weight of spores in a 2-month collection period. These spores are rich in unsaturated fatty acids, sterols and triterpenes which can be further concentrated using supercritical CO2 extraction to produce Reishi Spore Oil, Containing >30% triterpenes.
